These are some (in no particular order) of our favorite Ocean City area restaurants for a meal before or after your tiki tour or a great place to get takeout to bring on a tiki boat tour. Ocean City and Somers Point have lots of amazing restaurants to satisfy your cravings for everything from pizza and boardwalk treats to fine dining. Check out each restaurant’s websites and social media for more information on each location.

One of our favorite places to eat after a tiki boat adventure or a long beachy day! Randazzo’s warm atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing Italian comfort food and pizza are a great way finish a day on the water.

Yianni’s Cafe

Located on iconic Asbury ave. in Ocean City, NJ, stop by this family-owned restaurant for an amazing breakfast or lunch before joining us on an Afternoon Private Boat Charter. Their Greek inspired food is absolutely delicious and their staff cannot be beat!

Dockside Kitchen

Dockside Kitchen serves breakfast, brunch and lunch to the sounds of the bay and salt air vibes! We are never disappointed by a meal at Dockside. This is a great place to grab some take out before coming aboard the Pau Hana tiki boats! Back Bay Bar B Que is the real deal BBQ joint with handmade charcoal and wood fired grills out front. Back Bay is the perfect place to stop on your way to the tiki boats for takeout since we share the same parking lot. The ribs, cowboy beans and mac and cheese are our favorites!

Charlie’s

Charlies is an iconic bar and restaurant in Somers Point, NJ. They are famous for their chicken wings and sandwiches to bring along for a picnic on the Pau Hana Tiki Boats or a great place to grab a beer and some chicken wings after your trip.

Smitty’s Clam Bar

Smitty’s is a staple in Somers Point! Smitty’s seafood is absolutely amazing! It’s homemade, low key, fresh and delicious. Be ready to “tailgate” in the parking lot while waiting for a table. The Point

Where makes the most sense to go to before or after a relaxing Tiki Boat Tour?… A Tiki Bar, of course. The Point is the newest and one of the coolest waterfront restaurants in the Ocean City and Somers Point, NJ area. A true tiki bar with a sand floor, boardwalks, comfy couches and lounge furniture and a killer view of the 9th Street bridge. They have live entertainment most nights and a dancefloor under the starts to show off your moves.

Marsini’s

The Oar – Block Island, RI

Every year, thousands of boaters and tourists travel to Block Island to experience the natural beauty of Block Island. We have gone to “Block” almost every year for the last 10 years. Each time, we bring friends or relatives that always fall in love with the island and its funky vibe, beautiful scenery, beaches and their eclectic shops and restaurants.

The centerpiece, literally and figuratively of the island is the Great Salt Pond, where during the summer thousands of boaters decent to the three marinas and over 1000 moorings in the harbor. The harbor is the social center of the island with unique merchants that pedal everything from coffee and danishes to a raw bar and cocktails, delivered right to your boat. The pond has two infamous bars, The Oar and Mahogany Shoals at Paynes Dock. While no trip to Block Island would be complete without a visit to both, we’re going to focus on The Oar for this blog post.

The legend is that if you come to Block Island by boat, you must leave an oar, decorated with your boat name and crew names, the date you visited and any other décor that you want. The staff will gladly take your oar and hang it up in the restaurant. We have 6 different oars with our boat name hanging up in ceiling over the last 10 years but they don’t compare to some of the oldest oars date that back to the 1950’s. So cool to be a part of such a historic place!

When at The Oar you can lounge on the lawn overlooking the harbor and watch the sunset or you can grab a drink and play some lawn games. The Oar is famous for their Mudslide, A frozen concoction that is sure to cool you down after a long day on the beach or the boat. below is the recipe for The Oar’s Mudslide. Enjoy!

The Oar’s Frozen Mudslide

You will need a strong blender that can easily blend ice. (There is nothing worse than ice chunks in a milkshake.)

Ingredients

16oz vanilla ice cream (about 4 scoops or 2 cups)
1cup ice
2oz Bailey’s Irish Cream
2oz Kahlua coffee liqueur
2oz espresso vodka
2tbsp Chocolate syrup
1/4 cupWhipped cream

Instructions

Combine Bailey’s Irish Cream, Kahlua, vodka, ice, and ice cream inthe blender.
Pulse until it’s smooth.
To drizzle the inside of the class, hold it in one hand and hold a bottle of chocolate syrup in the other. Tilt the glass at about 45° angle and start pouring chocolate on the inside side of the glass. Turn the glass as you pour the syrup in a swirl all around the glass.
Pour the Mudslide mixture into the prepared glass.
Garnish with whipped cream and some more chocolate syrup on top

Favorite Beach Bars and Hangouts – Soggy Dollar Bar

Located in White Bay in the British Virgin Islands

Located in White Bay in the British Virgin Islands, this little beach shack got its name from boaters who would throw anchor offshore and from wading through the water to reach the bar their dollars would get soggy. Now they accept credit cards and there are waterproof devices to keep dollars dry, but there is still no dock in sight making for a fun and sand-bar-like experience. Luckily, the water is as warm as bath water and you don’t need much for a day on the beach here. Be sure to stop at the bar for its famous painkillers, a potent drink made with rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, cream of coconut and freshly grated nutmeg. The bartender is amazing to watch as he lines the bar with cups and mixes the drinks like something out of the movie Cocktail. This place, and the beach it’s located on, is truly one of the best experiences in all of the BVI’s.

The Pain Killer is a classic tiki cocktail that originated at the Soggy Dollar Bar in the British Virgin Islands.. The Soggy Dollar Bar is the very definition of the Caribbean beach bar and draws rum-loving pilgrims from around the world.

How to Make a Soggy Dollar Bar Painkiller

This rum-based cocktail is super easy to make. You will need a few ingredients for this recipe.

Pusser’s Rum (this is the preferred type of rum in making this drink, others will work)
Orange juice
Pineapple juice
Cream of Coconut
Nutmeg

Simply shake ingredients except for the nutmeg together and pour it into a tall glass filled with ice.

Sprinkle nutmeg on top.

What Kind of Rum is Best to Use?

Painkillers are delicious with any kind of rum, but they may be a little less potent if you don’t use Pusser’s. Pusser’s Rum originated with the British Royal Navy.

The Jack Tars as the sailors were known were issued a “tot” of rum as a daily ration by the ship’s purser, a word the sailors later changed into pusser. The daily issue of Pusser’s Rum became the highlight of the day. If you can’t find Pusser’s, try Meyers.

Best way to enjoy a Painkiller

The best way to enjoy your painkiller drink is in a hammock, preferably beside another Caribbean beach bum. However, we can’t all make it out to the Virgin Islands to visit the Soggy Dollar Bar, but you can make this cocktail at home or bring it with you on your next trip on Pau Hana.
